How to give a great presentation
Giving a presentation to a room full of people can be quite daunting. In this blog you will learn about how to give a room full of people, a great presentation.
Here are some tips to be aware of when giving a presentation.
The beginning of your presentation is the most important part. This is where you will grab the attention of your audience and draw people in. You need to start by entertaining them, most of the audience will give you a couple of minutes to impress them and if they aren’t impressed, they will switch off and zone out.
You will need to show your passion, really try and connect with your audience. Let your passion for what it is you’re talking about, shine through. Remember to be confident.
One thing you need to make sure that you’re doing throughout your presentation is to make eye contact with your audience. When you make eye contact with an individual, it may make you feel less nervous as you’re just talking to that individual in that moment, not to a great mass of people. Also remember to smile! Nobody wants to see someone give a presentation whilst looking bored or looking as though they don’t want to be there.
Try to keep your slides to a maximum of 15. This way your audience won’t get bored. Also, never write essays on your slides, a picture can tell a thousand words and you could also go into detail just by talking. Allow small breaks in between slides to allow the audience to ‘breathe’ and gather their thoughts.
You want to try to make your presentations personal and purposeful. By telling the presentation like a story, it brings your facts to life and the audience may empathise with you. People like to learn new things and by narrating it, it won’t get boring for them.
