THIS ONE DAY COURSE IS FOR:

anyone whose role involves mentoring others with the aim of enhancing their performance and promoting continuous development. This workshop introduces managers and prospective mentors to the concept of mentoring as a pro-active method of supporting, motivating, developing and goal-setting individuals to enhance their performance and promote continuous support and development.

understand the key concepts and benefits of mentoring, get the most out of the mentoring process, and help your “mentees” improve their day-to-day performance and real potential.

the skills to mentor others and structure the mentoring process to ensure the best outcomes for learners
recognise a person’s preferred learning styles and what motivates them
adapt your style to encourage and improve communication
develop a mentoring culture within your team or organisation

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Define mentoring and its benefits as a motivational tool to the manager, the individual and the organisation
Understand the role, responsibility and qualities of an effective mentor and men-tee
Understand how individual learning styles can be a help or a hindrance when carrying out the mentoring function
Identify the barriers to mentoring and how these can be overcome
Recognise and apply the mentoring process
Structuring an effective mentoring session
Identify and demonstrate the skills required to be an effective mentor
Develop a Personal Action Plan for putting mentoring into practice in the workplace
